MIRPURKHAS, Dec 6: The administration of the Nara canal has started a water rotation programme particularly at the tail-end areas.

Sources said a shortfall in the water supply from the Sukkur barrage led to the reduction of water level at the head of Nara canal.

Speaking to this correspondent on Saturday, growers said the rotation system would affect wheat sowing which according to the irrigation experts should be done before Dec 15.

They complained various distributaries off taking the Nara canal had been closed particularly at the tail end areas due to the water shortage.

Meanwhile, all sugar mills of the district have issued indents to growers and started crushing.
