Published December 6, 2003

KARACHI, Dec 5: Emphasising the role of the mother in the upbringing of the child, Chief of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Altaf Hussain, has said that whatever he was today was due to his mother’s endeavours.

He was addressing party workers telephonically on the 18th death anniversary of his mother. Mr Hussain also referred to the importance Islam had attached to the role of the mother, and said that no society can develop and prosper without caring and enlightened mothers.

Mr Hussain said he drew inspiration and courage from his mother for carrying on his struggle for the oppressed. He appealed to parents, especially mothers, to equip their children with better education and mannerism. Qurankhwani was also held on the occasion.
