LARKANA, Dec 4: The police on Wednesday obtained a one-day remand of two policemen, Mumtaz Ali Khokhar and Ashiq, from the court of the judicial magistrate in the murder case of two boys.

Mujahid Hussain, 9, and Lakhmir, 7, both cousins, were kidnapped and killed on Nov 13 and later their bodies were recovered from an abandoned plot and the Rice Canal.

Investigation officer Mohammad Paryal Morio the told journalists that the bicycle of a victim, thrown into the canal by the accused, had been recovered on Wednesday from the canal near Dodai village in the presence of the relatives of the victims.

Earlier, he said, a cutter, allegedly used in copping the body of Mujahid, was recovered from the quarter of Mumtaz.

Morio further said that Mumtaz Begum and Rizwana, the relatives of the killed boys, had confessed to have had the knowledge of the incident.

While recording their statements, the women said that Mumtaz and Ghulam Mustafa Khokhar had killed both the boys, buried Mujahid in a storeroom and stuffed the body of Lakhmir in a box in the house.

The accused threatened them with dire consequences if they revealed anything to the relatives therefore the women kept silent, they said.

The police would seek another one-day remand of the two accused on Thursday from the court, the investigation officer said.
