HYDERABAD, Dec 4: The membership of two councillors, including a woman councillor, of Union Council-3, Qasimabad Taluka, has been cancelled by its Nazim, Abdul Khaliq Chandio.

According to an announcement of Union Council-3, the membership of Abdul Sattar Soomro (Muslim labour councillor) and Safooran Soomro (Muslim labour councillor) was cancelled for being absent from five successive meetings.

The Nazim said that according to section 152(P) of the Sindh Local Government Ordinance 2001, the membership of a councillor was deemed to be cancelled if he/she remained absent from three successive meetings of his/her council.

He claimed that both the members did not give any explanation regarding their being absent from the meetings.

The Nazim has informed about it to the DCO, Hyderabad; the local government support officer, the Taluka municipal officer, Qasimabad, and both the members concerned.
