ISLAMABAD, Dec 3: The government has approved three projects worth Rs929.197 million for upgradation of healthcare facilities at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

The projects included setting up of a burns unit, rehabilitation centre at the Children’s Hospital and a women health scheme.

Dr Fazle Hadi, Pims executive director, told reporters on Wednesday that work on the burns unit would be initiated soon as the central development working party (CDWP) had approved a sum of Rs190 for the project while the government had also endorsed a Japan International Cooperation Agency grant of Rs714.197 million for the rehabilitation centre under which two new operation theatre suites would be built, equipment and chillers would be refurbished and a toxic waste treatment plant installed.
