GUJRANWALA, Dec 3: Scuffles between public transport crew and commuters have become more frequent, as the transporters have enhanced fare in the wake of increase in petrol prices.

The commuters complain that the transporters have arbitrarily enhanced fare, and the bus and wagon crew continues to overload vehicles, making travelling an ordeal.

According to information gathered by this correspondent, the transport vehicle owners have enhanced fare between Gujranwala and Sheikhupura (through Naushera Virkan) from Rs2 to Rs3 and fixed Rs15 up to Lahore.

Some of the commuters said the conductors forced women to sit on front seat even when it was occupied and humiliated those, who refused to sit there.

They demanded the district administration and traffic police to check overcharging and overloading in vehicles without delay.
