SIALKOT, Dec 3: The local buildings department has declared the buildings of 219 government primary, elementary and high schools as the most dangerous, saying these could collapse any time.

The department has asked the education officials to vacate these buildings immediately to avoid any accident.

It is also learnt that 358 government boy schools and 442 girl schools were without furniture. Teachers, and students and their parents have expressed concern over the buildings department’s declaration, urging upon the local government to make all the necessary arrangements for shifting these schools to safer buildings.

Meanwhile, the education department authorities claimed that the department had no alternative arrangements to shift the schools.

The affected people have complained that the condition of school buildings exposes the district government’s claims of changing the complexion of the education system through uplift projects.

District Nazim Mian Naeem Javed has claimed that the district administration will provide by the end of this year all the missing facilities, including furniture, drinking water and electricity, at the educational institutions.

INJURED: Eight people sustained minor injuries in different road accidents as to the result of a thick fog that blanketed both the Sialkot and Narowal districts on Wednesday.

The fog started descending early in the morning remained till afternoon.

Attendance in all government and private offices

and educational institutions remained thin due to the foggy weather.

The Met office forecast light rain in both Sialkot and Narowal districts during the next 24 hours.
