HYDERABAD, Dec 2: The chief of the Awami Tehrik, Rasool Bux Palijo, has said that the right of the Sindhi people over the River Indus system was not given to Sindh by the country or any president or prime minister but it was a national right.

In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Tuesday, he said even before the creation of Pakistan, Sindh province was enjoying exclusive rights over the Indus waters.

He said that no president, prime minister or bureaucrat could alter things and destroy Sindh province through the constitution of any committee.

He was equally critical of opportunists who had betrayed the cause of Sindh.

He warned these opportunists that they would be made accountable by the public.

He said that since A. N. G. Abbasi was a gentleman and a sincere person; therefore, he should not become a part of any anti-Sindh conspiracy.

He advised Mr Abbasi to join the national struggle for the rights of Sindh.

SNP: The chairman, Sindh National Party, Amir Bhambhro, has said that the people of Sindh would have to wage a struggle on the issue of Indus waters and natural resources of Sindh.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, he regretted that some vested interests in Sindh were supporting anti-Sindh projects like the greater Thal canal and Kalabagh dam.

He called upon Liaquat Ali Jatoi, Nisar Memon and others to support the struggle of nationalist forces for the rights of Sindh.

HESCO: The Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, under the Tameer-i-Pakistan Programme on Tuesday completed the 3.2KV power line in the Wali Mohammad Rind village in Union Council Seri.

The project has cost Rs1,213,742.

DEMO: A large number of drivers of four-seaters, Baldia Colony stand, held a demonstration outside the press club on Tuesday against the highhandedness of the SHO, Baldia police station, Hussain Bux Dal.

Speaking on the occasion, the drivers’ union leaders Gul Hassan Palari, Rafaqat and Abdul Sattar accused the SHO of extortion.

They appealed to the DPO, Hyderabad, to take notice of the highhandedness of the SHO and demanded his removal.
