Govt to establish 'high-level' task force to monitor NAP's implementation

ISLAMABAD: Federal government on Thursday decided to set 'high-level' task force, comprising representatives of all concerned departments and agencies, to monitor the execution of National Action Plan (NAP).
The six-hour long meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, took strategic review of the regional and internal security situation, reported Radio Pakistan.
Nawaz, while asking to take time bound and result-oriented action to eliminate terrorism from the country, directed that every effort must be made to implement NAP.
Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, DG ISI Lt Gen Rizwan Akhtar and other senior ministers and officials were present at the meeting.
The participants stressed the necessity to provide sufficient resources to the intelligence agencies, claiming that they play a vital role in safeguarding the country.
In the meeting it was reaffirmed that restoration of complete peace and tranquility will remain top priority of the government and state institutions.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly had on Monday called for the regular review of the National Action Plan against terrorism to examine its progress and identify hurdles to it for corrective measures after a blast in Quetta’s Civil Hospital killed 70 people.
The meeting was also attended by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi, National Security Adviser Nasser Khan Janjua and other senior officials.

What a wonderful day will be in Pakistan's history when all Terrorists are eliminated from Pakistan and Mother Earth.
The Task Force shall be candid to review progress, reasons for escalation in terrorist attacks, profile of those involved in terrorist activities, the terrorist himself, financier, radicalisation institution, religious affiliation and Mullah involved in such a heinous crime etc.
Just removing a terrorist would not solve the problem. To remove the scourge, the Task Force shall identify the ideology and breeding grounds/institutions/teachings and expunged the same from Pakistan's soil-mercilessly and brutally. Then and then only we will have peace.
It will take time but with honest intention, zeal and action it is achievable.

This remind me of story I read in school - when governments don't want to do anything, they form a committee to solve the problem. After some time they form another committee on top of previous one to find the reason for the previous committee not to deliver the results --- and this goes on till the issue is forgotten and some new event takes place to repeat the cycle ----- well done current government for following this plan so effectively. Panama issue gone - this issue will also pass -- and this will go on.

This government spends more time and resources on setting up committees and 'high level task forces' to monitor, than the actual implementation and enforcement of security measures.
If these committees and task forces (high or low level) had done an adequate job, than why are all the terrorists attacks still happening all over the country? And why do we still see Security Guards at an Airports and government installation, still checking vehicles with a useless, bogus radio-antennae laced 'bomb detectors'? Obviously the task forces don't know what their task is. Nor is there an action plan to review the security apparatus, training, equipment deployed and strategy to stop the almost daily carnage.

The government and the people of Pakistan must analyse the current form of terrorism afflicting the country in its totality.
The government then should address each segment of the terrorism paradigm and come up with an effective counter terrorism strategy.
With the full and whole hearted support of the people of Pakistan, we would then be in a position to completely eradicate terrorism in all its form from the country.
The above can only be achieved if the government is run efficiently and effectively; with good governance, transparency and accountability as its hallmark. State institutions are strong and make independent decisions without any political influence.

our government is quick to organise committees but the decisions made in these committees lack effective implementation. One should wonder why such high task force was not set up before to monitor the progress made in NAP?

The present government has failed to nurture the right environment in order to fight terrorism effectively.
The government in power should have the full and undisputed mandate of the people of Pakistan.
It should serve the country with good governance, be transparent and accountable to the people of Pakistan. It must ensure that institutions are strong and independent and devoid of any political influence.
With these attributes, the government can function efficiently and be effective in eradicating terrorism from the country with the support of the resolute people of Pakistan.

Meetings & task forces are not going to cut it. This is crisis situation. The solution is obvious, root out religious fanaticism to destroy terrorism of all kinds. Even if these elites understand this, do they have the will power do it? Will they do the right thing?

High Level Task Force (HLTF) will replace all the prevailing forces since they have failed to ensure safety of the people which I do appreciate though many have written against this move of PM. However, who heads is a baffling question as all have failed including Ch Nisar, Interior Minister?
