LAHORE, Dec 1: The Punjab Zakat Council has sanctioned Rs520.22 million grant for 3,909 deserving people for their permanent rehabilitation in 19 districts.

Every deserving person will be given Rs5,000 to Rs50,000 under the scheme for starting their own small scale business.

The council has sanctioned Rs0.344 million for 27 people in Lodhran district, Rs35.406 million for 1,963 in Sahiwal, Rs56.657 million for 3,543 in Rahim Yar Khan, Rs24.3 million for 1,726 in Narowal, Rs35.060 for 1,725 in Gujranwala and 39.970 million for 2,721 in Sialkot.

A sum of Rs31.15 million was sanctioned for 1,763 persons in Toba Tek Singh, Rs16.93 million for 2,297 in Chakwal, Rs2.31 million for 139 in Mandi Bahauddin, Rs35.74 million for 2,883 in Sargodha, Rs25.65 million for 1,291 in Rawalpindi, Rs17.01 million for 1,235 in Pakpattan and Rs54.450 million for 4,244 in Jhang.

The council has sanctioned Rs13.43 million for 873 men in Rajanpur, Rs4.3 million for 297 in Layyah, Rs5.06 million for 5,007 in Muzaffargarh, Rs20.29 million for 2,030 in Mianwali, Rs17.39 million for 1,400 in Khushab and Rs39.176 million for 3,875 in Lahore.

The grants were sanctioned by the council in the last meeting of its tenure held with Justice Munir A. Moghal (retired) in the chair. Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Younas and representatives of provincial finance and social welfare departments attended the meeting.
