KARACHI, Nov 30: Sindh Chief Secretary Dr Mutawakkil Qazi on Sunday directed the additional chief secretary (local government) to take immediate action for removal of encroachments from government lands in accordance with the prescribed rules and regulations, and discourage such illegal activities in future.

In a letter to the additional chief secretary, the CS asked officials to immediately evacuate all government property from illegal occupants in all the districts and direct DCOs to ensure that government lands are not encroached upon.

He further said government would welcome such residential schemes through which people hailing from low-income groups would be provided with residential units or plots on subsidised rates.

The CS has also expressed concern over the increase in the prices of flour and sugar in the province, and directed the provincial secretary food to take steps for sale of these commodities on reasonable rates.

He said officials should initiate action against profiteers in collaboration with DCOs in all the districts of the province. —PPI
