QUETTA: Seven people, including four personnel of the Frontier Corps, were injured in a bomb blast near the Sariab overhead bridge on Wednesday night.

According to police, some attackers had planted an explosives device near the bridge on the Sariab road, which exploded as two vehicles of the Frontier Corps were passing through it.

The blast left four FC men and three civilians injured.

The FC personnel were patrolling the area when the bomb exploded. “The target was vehicles of the Frontier Corps,” said Tanveer Shah, a senior officer of Sariab police, adding that it was an improvised explosives device which was detonated by remote control.

FC and police personnel rushed to the area and shifted the injured to the Civil Hospital. Some of the injured were later taken to the Combined Military Hospital.

No one claimed responsibility for the blast till late in the night.
