MIANWALI: Houses damaged by the Indus. — Dawn

MIANWALI: The district administration on Thursday issued a flood warning to the people living along the Indus river and all the departments concerned.

At the moment, the river has flooded and eroded some areas of the district, especially around village Dhup Sari in tehsil Mianwali where a number of people have lost their houses.

The district administration has set up two flood relief camps in primary schools of Dhup Sari.

District Coordination Officer Shahzaib Saeed along with Assistant Commissioner Rana Hussain visited the relief camps and saw the arrangements. He informed the affectees that he had referred their cases to the Punjab government for rehabilitation and compensation for loss.

He said construction of a spur was being considered to save the Dhup Sari village from further erosion.

Talking to Dawn, the DCO said meal was being provided to nearly 300 flood victims in the relief camps where they were being provided with health facilities also. He said all the departments in district were ready to deal with any flood situation and constructions of spurs at Alluwali, Kacha Gujrat, Nuranga, Sharifwali and Uttra Kalan had been completed.
