QUETTA, Dec 30: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy have demanded of India and Pakistan to refrain from war of words which could lead to actual war between the two countries.

A joint meeting of the HRCP, Balochistan chapter, and Pakistan-India People’s Forum for Peace and Democracy, held here on Sunday adopted various resolutions on the war-like situation prevailing in the subcontinent.

The meeting was presided over by provincial chairman Dr Amiruddin.

The resolution demanded of both countries to understand the gravity of the situation and that their leadership should initiate a dialogue for resolving the conflict.

The meeting also appealed to the government to announce a date for holding general elections in view of the fragile situation in the country.

The resolution demanded a reduction in the voters’ minimum age to 18 years, and that election in future should be held on the bases of joint electorate.
