TEHRAN: Iran on Tuesday condemned three suicide bombings that rocked its regional rival Saudi Arabia, one of them targeting Masjid-i-Nabvi (PBUH), Islam's second holiest place, in Madinah.
"There are no more red lines left for terrorists to cross. Sunnis and Shias will both remain victims unless we stand united as one," Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Twitter.
Four security guards were killed in the Madinah bombing.
The other attacks on Monday targeted the United States consulate in the Red Sea city of Jeddah and a Shia mosque in Saudi's Qatif.
"Terrorism knows no border or nationality and there is no solution except creating an international and regional unity against this phenomenon," foreign ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi told state broadcaster IRIB.
There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attack on Masjid-i-Nabvi (PBUH).
Iran and Saudi Arabia are locked in an increasingly tense competition for regional influence, and back opposing sides in regional conflicts, including in Syria and Yemen.
Riyadh broke off diplomatic relations with Tehran in January after protesters attacked its embassy in the Iranian capital following the execution of a Shia cleric, and its consulate in Mashhad.

Iran was/is always ready to compromise and stand for unity for the welfare of muslim world, but it is the KSA which does not like Iran and does not make any compromise.

The best suggestion indeed, Iran should take practical steps to show to the Muslim world that they really mean this. Unless the Muslims get united they can not get out of the mess. Ulemas from Sunni & Shia sects should sit down with one agenda "how to unite the ummah"

@dada: Dear Dada please read again what I wrote. Fighting ISIS will not alone unite Ummah, the Sunni & Shia ulemas should sit together to devise a unified stand to end hostility in between the two sects. ISIS is a common enemy, we have to work more than this. Muslim Ummah should think & act like one body & mind.

You both are responsible for the killling of thousand innocents and defamation of Islam. If u dont stay united it will hit every innocent irrespective of colour, race and religion. Terrorism has become a threat to humanity. It must b stoped now at every cost.

Iran's interference in Syria is for protecting it's own interests and much rather for love of Syrian people who are majority Sunnis. Iran wants to keep its leverage on destabilizing the Middle East by provoking Israel through Hezbollah and it uses Syria as the bridge. Iran needs this leverage to divert pressure on itself and it does not care about what price people of the region like Syria and Lebanon end up paying for their adventures. We have seen this in the past. As for Saudis no one is their fan but we all know who was behind their financing and arming the Syrian rebels.

Good statement and encouraging thoughts by Iran. Saudi Arabia is involved when it comes to Middle East regional policies. Westren countries consult and get approval from Saudi Of their invasion or attack on muslim countries. So, the chicken are coming home to roost for Saudi Arabia.
