MULTAN, Dec 30: A 12-year-old boy on Sunday tried to end his life by setting himself ablaze to blink the hardships in life.

Adil exposed himself to fire in front of the railway station and was taken to the Nishtar Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

Adnan told newsmen that Adil’s mother had died and his father refused to support him after his second marriage. He said Adil had no choice but to live on a railway platform.

He maintained railway head constables Ashraf and Rana Babar, who claimed to have close relations with railway police officers, subjected him to sexual abuse. They threatened to jail him if he did not yield to their immoral advice, he added.

On Sunday, cycle stand employee Tariq tortured him, he said. Disgusted with life, the minor attempted suicide.
