ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan will inaugurate a state-of-the-art National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) centre in Blue Area on Monday.

The centre has the capacity to process 2,000 applications for the computerised national identity cards (CNICs) daily.

The decision to establish six mega centres and 15 passport executive offices across the country was made to address complaints of citizens about the delay in processing their applications.

At the centre in Blue Area, which will be the largest in the country, the citizens will be able to get CNICs, child registration certificates (CRC) also known as B-Form, and family registration certificates.

A representative of the Ministry of Interior said that in the past all the Nadra centres in Islamabad had the capacity to process 500 applications daily.

“In other centres, the applicants have to go to different counters to get tokens and wait for their pictures, fingerprints, data entry and other processes.

But at the new centre, all the processes will be completed at one counter,” he said.

“As there will be 34 counters, so 34 applicants can apply for their cards simultaneously and on an average eight to 10 minutes will be required for processing each application.” He said the centre had a seating capacity for 300 people.

“At the moment it has been decided that the centre will remain open during office hours but after a while the timings will be increased.”
