QUETTA: Judge of the Accountability Court Quetta, Abdul Majeed Nasar, remanded the former adviser to the chief minister of Balochistan on finance, Mir Khalid Langove, and the former administrator of Khaliqabad and Machh in NAB custody for another 14 days on Friday.

The NAB authorities produced both the suspects before the court and sought another 14 days remand to interrogate them in the mega corruption case.

The court accepted the plea and extended their remand for another 14 days.

A spokesman for NAB Balochistan said that after completion of earlier remand, the two were to be produced before the court on July 4 but due to the Eid holidays, they were produced before the court today.

Former finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani and two other suspects — government contractor Sohail Majeed Shah and an executive engineer, B&R department, Kalat — are already in NAB custody.

Sohail Shah and Tariq Ali were remanded in NAB custody by the court for another 14 days on Thursday.

All the suspects were arrested by NAB in connection with Rs 6 billion embezzlement in local government funds of 2014-15.

The authorities had recovered Rs650 million from the official residence of Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani after his arrest on May 6.

One of the suspects, Asad Shah, who is a younger brother of contactor Sohail Shah, was released on pardon bail by the accountability court as he had agreed to become an approver in the graft case to help the NAB authorities in the case.

“Investigation into the mega corruption case was in progress as a special team of NAB was interrogating all the suspects,” sources said, adding that NAB Sindh was extending cooperation to NAB Balochistan in detecting the houses and vehicles owned by Mushtaq Raisani, Saleem Shah and other suspects arrested in this case.
