DADU, Nov 25: At least 500 promotion orders of education department officials of seven Talukas of Dadu district, including the detailment orders, were cancelled by the EDO, Education, Dadu, on Tuesday.

The promotion orders of education department officials were issued on Aug 14, 2001 on political basis to primary school teachers, junior school teachers, high school teachers, supervisors, LCOs and ADOEs along with the detailment orders.

On the special directives of the district Nazim, Dadu, Sardar Malik Asad Sikandar, and the provincial minister, Education, Irfanullah Marwat, respectively, the EDO, Education, Dadu, Ghulam Mustafa Kalhoro, has issued cancellation orders against these promotions and constituted an inquiry committee comprising six district officers of the education department to probe into the matter and submit a report to the EDO, Education, immediately.

In reaction, the office bearers of the GSTA, Dadu, held a demonstration outside the Dadu Press Club to protest against the EDO, Education, and cancellation of promotion orders of education department officials of Dadu district.

They were led by the general secretary, GSTA, Abdul Hameed Memon.

Talking to newsmen at the Dadu Press Club, Abdul Hameed Memon, said that the promotion orders of the officials were not illegal.

He alleged that the EDO, Education, had cancelled the promotion orders to exhort money from the education officials.

He warned that if the cancellation orders were not withdrawn, they would launch a movement against the EDO, education, Dadu.

A leader of Primary School Teachers Association, Hanif Lund, said that the promotions given to the teachers were legal and on the basis of seniority.

He said that the EDO should cancel the illegal promotion orders, but not those which were issued on seniority basis.

He threatened that if the EDO did not withdraw his orders, they would launch a series of protests against him.

BOOK FAIR: On the demand of the district Nazim, Dadu, Sardar Malik Asad Sikandar, the Oxford Press is holding a book fair in the District Council hall, Dadu, from Dec 9 to Dec 14.

In a statement issued by the administrative officer of the district Nazim, Dadu, Zulfiqar Nizamani, on Tuesday, he appealed to the people of Dadu district to start reading and buying books.

OATH: Dr Zahid Hussain Jatoi was administered oath of the office of district Naib Nazim, Dadu, on Tuesday in the court of the district and sessions judge, Dadu, following the issuance of a notification by the election commission and dismissal of the petition of Dost Ali Jesser by the High Court of Sindh, Karachi.
