KARACHI: Southpaw Fawad Khan claimed a rich haul of six wickets as Omar Associates trounced Qasmi Gymkhana by 62 runs to make the quarter-finals of the fourth Naya Nazimabad Ramazan Cup late on Monday night.

Chasing a stiff target of 169 on a turning track at the Lawai Cricket Stadium, Qasmi Gymkhana were spun out for a meagre 106 in the 19th over with slow left-armer Fawad returning magnificent analysis of 6-19 in four overs to record the best figures at this venue by anyone.

Barring Afsar Nawaz, who showed some resistance with a defiant 35-ball knock of 32 with two sixes and one four, it was a one-way traffic as Qasmi Gymkhana batsmen struggled from the onset of the run chase.

Saad Nasim slammed an unbeaten 39 off 21 balls with four boundaries and two sixes and Babar Hussain Agha’s 16-ball cameo of 24 included one six and a four.

Fawad was later named man-of-the-match.
