KHAIRPUR: A part of the railway track was damaged in a remote-controlled bomb explosion about two kilometres from the Ranipur station on Sunday.

There was no train on the Up or Down track when the locally-made device went off, said police and bomb disposal squad officials after a visit to the scene of the incident.

No casualties were reported. However, a part of the track measuring 2.5 metres to 3 metres was damaged, they said.

Railway traffic remained suspended for some time as trains were stopped at Gambat and Setharja stations.
