BAHAWALPUR, Nov 23: PPP district vice-president Dr Rao Abu Bakr had alleged that he was abducted and tortured by his rivals on Saturday night.

Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, he alleged that Tanseerul Hassan and his armed accomplices forced their entry into his residence on Saturday night and took him to a house in Model Town where he was tortured. Later, he managed to escape from the house and reach police station.

The PPP leader also showed some of his wounds to the newsmen.

He said that Civil Lines police had registered a case against the accused for keeping him in illegal confinement. “The FIR has no mention of the abduction and torture,” he said.

Meanwhile, Syed Tatheerul Hassan alias Pappu and Hafiz Muhammad Mueen were shot at and injured allegedly by Naseem and Shikra.

Both the injured, who were hit in the legs, were admitted to the BVH.

Police registered the case with no arrest.

Dr Rao Abu Bakr and Tatheerul Hassan belong to rival PPP group. Tatheer supports Tariq Cheema group while Dr Rao Abu Bakr is a member of district president Riaz Dahar group.

Tanseerul Hassan is a brother of Tatheer.
