HYDERABAD, Nov 23: Welcoming steps to ensure the teaching of Sindhi in the Jacobabad private schools, the Sindhi Language Authority has appealed to the district governments to ensure the teaching of the language in schools.

In a statement issued here on Saturday, SLA chairman Professor Qasim Bughio demanded that the Sindhi Language Bill 1972 and 1990 (amendment) should be implemented across the province.

He said it was not only the right of children to receive education in their mother tongue but also the duty of the government, parents and civil society to ensure that Sindhi language was made compulsory in schools.

BOOK: The SLA has published a book titled “Literary importance of figures in Sindhi language”, says a spokesman of the authority.

Written by Dr Ghulam Qadir Soomro, the book provides information about the use of figures in Sindhi language and its educational and literary importance.

SPLA: The regional president of the Sindh Professors and Lecturers Association, Professor Sher Khan Seelro, and others have condemned the issuance of show-cause notices to two lecturers of the Tando Adam girls college. In a statement on Sunday, they said the college had been destroyed due to the political interference.

They demanded that the college’s principal should be transferred.

In a circular issued here on Saturday, Wasa MD Tahir Ahmed said that regular water supply should be ensured to the mosques and Eidgahs.

He said that a special schedule of workers should be chalked out during the Eid holidays.
