LAHORE: A five-day in-service short-term training for the faculty of Lahore College for Women University began here on Thursday.

“We have to simultaneously focus on research in disciplines of social and bio sciences if we really want our country to progress. With the passage of time teaching methodologies have changed with more use of technology, multi-media, videos, documentaries, etc, so we have to train our faculty to keep pace with the changing needs,” Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Resource Person Dr. Nusra Inayat said.

The training jointly organised by the Directorate of Faculty Development and Internationalisation, PHEC, comprised 14 sessions.

The objective of the workshop is to equip faculty members with advanced teaching methodologies, sound communication skills and personality grooming.

Dr. Bashir Gondal and Dr. Moafia Nader conducted engaging sessions on andragogical skills highlighting the importance of teaching techniques for adults. Dr. Farhana Khurshid shared communication skill ideas with the faculty.

PU: The Punjab University Office of Research Innovation & Commercialisation (ORIC) on Thursday signed an MoU with Institute of Research Promotion (IRP) to bridge industry-academia gap.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran presided over the ceremony.

Under the MoU, the objective of R&D promotion, training, collaboration and developing an enabling environment for academia and industry will be met.

Prof. Dr. Aamir Ijaz said the purpose of the MoU was to promote the culture of academic research.
