ISLAMABAD, Nov 22: The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) on Saturday announced the results of Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Supplementary Examination 2003 with a pass percentage of 58.9.

According to the board’s notification, a total of 9,513 candidates had appeared in the examination, held in October, out of which 5,572 cleared all the subjects. It says 3,883 candidates have failed in the examination, while results of 31 candidates have been withheld for various reasons. As many as 26 unfair- means cases were registered against the students during the examination.

The pass percentage among girls was 67.23, and, among boys, it was 52.98. As many as 3,962 girl candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 2,653 were declared successful. On the other hand, 5,551 boy students appeared in the exams, out of which 2,919 passed. Out of 26 unfair-means cases, 25 have been registered against boys.

Out of the total 9,513 candidates, 4,829 took examination in humanities group, 663 in pre-medical group, 941 in pre- engineering group, 2,655 in general science group and 425 in commerce group.

The pass percentage in each group was Humanities, 50.76; Pre-Medical, 6.97; Pre-Engineering, 9.89; General Science, 27.91; Commerce, 4.47.

The FBISE has also announced that the candidates who have availed themselves of all the chances will have to take the examinations as fresh students under the syllabi prescribed for the year in which they appear. The board announced that those candidates, who failed in more than two subjects, after having appeared in all the papers in the supplementary examinations, had been shown as “Fail” in the gazette and they would have to appear in all the subjects.

It said the result cards of ex/private candidates were being sent to the addresses given by the candidates in their admission forms. However, in case of ex/private candidates, who were living abroad, the result cards will be sent to the centres from where they appeared in the examination. The result cards of the candidates of the Northern Areas will be sent to the sub-offices at Gilgit and Skardu.
