Ufone apologises after 'accidental endorsement' of Go Nawaz Go tweet

Ufone, a top telecom provider in Pakistan, apologised on Thursday for liking a politically inclined tweet on its official Twitter account.

The tweet, originating from a personal account, stated 'GoNawazGo' and carried a picture of a goat.

The tweet appearing on Ufone's Twitter was deemed inappropriate by a large number of social media users in the country.

Twitter users across the country started trending 'BoycottUfone'. While some tweets were humorous in nature, others tweets criticised the service provider for indulging into politics.

Some social media users questioned the logic of the top trend in Pakistan, 'BoycottUfone'.

Some tweets saw the lighter side of the situation.

Ufone did apologise for the oversight on their social media account, and tweeted an apology shortly after the trend became viral.

They assured their customers and social media users the matter will investigated and action taken against those responsible for the inappropriate usage of their corporate Twitter account.

And Telenor does it again.

Seems like Ufone marketing team has been taken from Telenor, as Telenor had endorsed PTI in 2013 general elections through naya Pakistan campaign

@Gramscian PMLN performance is by far anything but dismissal. Economy today is far better than in the last 15 years of Musharraf and PPP combined. PMLN is the only progressive party.

@Sammy Really? with the economic growth rate of 4.7% even that is doubtful as World Bank reported the actual growth rate to be 3.9%. Agriculture growth worst in our history. I'm no fan of Musharraf, but during his rule Pak economy grew over 6% on average, even reached 8% for one year.

@Sammy people dying of hunger corruption is rampant sharifs becoming trillionaires whereas multi billion income generating organisations getting bankrupt. Yes you can say that better than may be other governments in the past but is that how you compare the govt. Is this the standard of quality.....how many people have completely free treatment in reality, how many people in pakistan live below poverty line do u have any idea? Is metro and motorway everything we need....how many uneducated childrenare there v in pakistan....is NS nor responsible for all the state affairs being the PM of Pakistan.. NS is responsible if a child dies in Thar or someone not having food in peShaw ar but if he takes the responsibility. We don't comparison with Zardari or musharraf

Why to boycott? Ufone is not running on public money and it is not the organization which suppose to be unbiased. And if they have their political affiliation then what is wrong in it? Other may favor PML-N no problem at all.

The official social media account of any telecom company is to be kept under responsible hands, regardless of any reservation from the Govt, such ridicule turns out to be the ridicule of the company itself! @Sammy funny you should say this. rather than listening to ishaq dar lies how about little research. growth is 4.7 less than expected 5.5% and ishaq dar called it 8yrs best performance admitting that musharraf 7% growth was real. I dont like musharraf but lets be honest, pml_N did much worst job. When PPP took over, world was hit by a recession and PPP managed to grow at 2.8-3.5% in 5 yrs. low import bill in pml-n time due to falling oil prices didnt do us much i guess as exports have fallen to $15.6bn. 3 yrs low. maybe 8yrs low as well.

I don't know why they have to ...we do have freedom of expressions...it is so called our constitutional right. It is a good rule in life never to apologize. The right sort of people do not want apologies, and the wrong sort take a mean advantage of them.
