PESHAWAR, Nov 22: People faced hardship due to the extraordinary  security arrangement made by the administration and the law-enforcement agencies on the arrival of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah  Khan Jamali in the city on Saturday.

The city police and personnel of the Frontier Constabulary were deployed on all the main roads, specially at the Karkhano  market where the prime minister inaugurated the first Islamic banking branch of the Bank of Khyber.

The law-enforcement agencies had ordered closure of all the shops in the market.

A large number of people who visited the market for Eid shopping were disappointed.

The security personnel also stopped all the vehicles from moving towards the Karkhano market. No public transport was available in the area.

The public transports also stopped plying on other roads to avoid traffic jam and most of the minibuses and wagons remained off the road. Passengers were seen sitting on the rooftops of the few buses on road and the women commuters had to face more hardship as they could not board the overloaded buses.

The traffic problems continued till late in the evening.

Armoured personnel carriers were deployed at key points, specially the Tambwano chowk near the runway of the airport.
