MITHI: An 18-year-old girl in Meghwar area of Mithi axed her sister to death and injured her parents on Tuesday for allegedly marrying her against her will.

The girl was soon arrested by police where she confessed to “attacking her family members” after they had decided to give her hand in marriage against her will.

Later, the body of the murdered woman — who was pregnant at the time of her death — was handed over to her family members. However, the injured parents were said to be in critical condition and were shifted to Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

SSP Sarfarz Nawaz Shaikh told to Dawn that the instigations were underway to “ascertain the real facts behind this unique incident of its kind in the Thar region”.

Shaikh told that FIR would be launched on the complaint of the victim’s brother Munohar Meghwar, adding that the body of the deceased was taken to Naukot area for burial.

The senior police official said, “It looks that the entire family had been in the some sort of physiological problems, as one of the sister had earlier committed suicide.”

“I am trying to get to the bottom of this to find out who incited the suspect for carrying out the attack.”

The brother of the murder suspect told local journalists that “she wanted to kill all family members but he overpowered her”.
