KARACHI: Meat sellers suspend strike

Published November 22, 2003

KARACHI, Nov 21: The Meat Merchants Welfare Association (MMWA) has decided to resume the sale of meat temporarily from Saturday up to Eid days.

The decision was taken at an emergency general body meeting of the association held here on Friday under the chairmanship of Haji Mohammed Ishaq.

A statement said that meat, both mutton and beef, would be available at retail outlets from Saturday.

Meat sellers had closed their shops in protest against the city government’s warning to those selling meat at the rates higher than notified officially.—APP
