KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Friday directed the police and the excise and taxation authorities to immediately seal a liquor store in Ali Akbar Shah Goth within the remit of the Bin Qasim police station.

Headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah the bench also issued notices to the secretary and the director general of the excise and taxation department, the Ibrahim Haideri police station SHO and others, directing them to file their comments by June 2 when the court would again take up the matter.

Ms Bushra, a resident, approached the court against the liquor shop stating that it was opened in a Muslim majority vicinity in violation of existing rules and regulations.

She asked the court for the closure of the liquor shop and further requested the court to order action against the official responsible for granting a licence for it.
