KARACHI, Nov 20: Justice Shabbir Ahmed, administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts for Karachi division, on Thursday accepted challan against Shanawaz alias Shan in Suparco bus firing case and entrusted the trial to the anti-terrorism court-II.

The judge fixed Dec 1 for commencement of trial before ATC-II. Earlier, the investigating officer submitted the challan before the court.

According to the charge-sheet, accused Shahnawaz confessed that Asif alias Choto, presently chief of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, fired at the bus of Suparco carrying employees to a mosque for offering Juma prayers.

According to alleged confession by Shahnawaz, Asif fired from the front while he himself fired from one side of the bus.

Asif alias Choto and Shaukat alias Javed were shown absconders in the challan according to which accused were booked under section 324/302/34.

Six persons, including driver of bus Mohammed Qasim, Athar Ali, Hashim Raza, Raza Ali, Muhammed Rafique and Syed Wasi-ul- Hasan Zaidi were killed in the incident on Oct 3.
