Check kite ban violators, orders Nazim

Published November 20, 2003

LAHORE, Nov 19: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood on Wednesday directed the SSP operations to launch a fresh campaign to check kite flying without showing any leniency to those violating the City District Government ban on it.

He said that the ban imposed on kite flying under Section 144 Cr.P.C. was intact and had not been relaxed but some people had started violating it under the eroneous impression that it had been lifted. Those found violating the ban would, therefore, be punished.

He said that a committee was considering relaxing the ban on kite flying only on Basant temporarily but no decision had been taken to lift it permanently as it had been welcomed by all sections of society and saved the people from frequent power trippings.
