Nazim admits rise in crime

SHIKARPUR, Nov 19: District Nazim Mohammad Arif Mahar has said the government is trying its best to redress the grievances of people through district governments.

Speaking at an Iftar party hosted by him at the district government secretariat here on Tuesday, he said efforts were being made to provide justice to the people in rural and urban areas.

He said several development schemes had been completed in the district, including those of roads, streets, drainage system, educational institutions, village electrification and gas supply.

Mr Mahar expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, which he believed, had been created by professional criminals.

He stressed upon the police to take strict action against the anti-social elements to ensure peace in the district.

He called upon the people to extend full cooperation to the police and district administration to overcome law and order problems.

LOOTED: Passengers of a Quetta-bound coach were deprived of their cash, watches, jewellery and other valuables worth over Rs100,000 by eight highwaymen on the Sukkur-Shikarpur road near the Sindh Wah on Tuesday.
