Cabinet decision criticized

MIRPURKHAS, Nov 19: The Scheduled Castes Federation of Pakistan (SCFP) has criticized the Sindh Cabinet’s decision to take away the recruitments of BPS-1 to BPS-15 from the Sindh Public Service Commission’s purview.

This is a big shift from the policy of merit declared by President Gen Pervez Musharraf and an economic murder of thousands of talented youths holding poor and humble backgrounds, said SCFP President Surendar Valasai, its senior vice president, Bherulal Balani, and its general secretary, Arjundas, in a joint press statement issued here on Wednesday.

They said it appears that some feudal lords and politicians have ganged up and were out to damage the repair done by the president.

The SCFP leaders said that the Sindh Cabinet’s decision was primarily aimed at snatching the rights of poor segments of society and inducting their incompetent henchmen so as to hijack Sindh government departments.

They stressed that the scheduled castes in Sindh should be provided jobs as per their population ratio in the province as some politicians, having the backing of influential caste Hindus, were fighting a battle to keep the Dalits backward in Pakistan also.
