SAHIWAL: Students of the Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) on Wednesday continued with their protest against the Sahiwal campus management over the issue of non-recognition of many courses by the Higher Education Commission, Punjab.

Students boycotted their classes, blocked Pakpattan Chowk for traffic and staged a sit-in at the DCO office.

They chanted slogans against Resident Director Hasan Imam, campus owner Mr. Sohail and other senior officials. Students alleged that the campus senior officials had turned a deaf ear to their demands.

They demanded that the Sahiwal commissioner intervene in the matter and take up the issue of no objection certificate with HEC. Later, DCO Asif Iqbal called Deputy Director (Colleges) Qazi Abdul Nasir to have negotiations with the university management.

Talking to media, the DCO said the vice chancellor had held out assurance that the matter would be resolved within 10 days.
