CHITRAL: Bodies of the two remaining students were found on Tuesday 40 days after nine pupils were buried under a snow avalanche in Susoom village here.

Talking to Dawn by telephone, district councillor from Karimabad Mohammad Yaqub said the personnel of Chitral Scouts, Chitral Levies, police and the local volunteers continued clearing the snow from the site in search of the bodies.

He said the bodies of Amir Ilahi and Aftab Ali Shah, both residents of Susoom, were retrieved during clearance of the snow, thus bringing to an end the search operation for the bodies.

Mr Yaqub said bodies of the two students were in good condition and no injury marks were seen on them despite the passage of one-and-half month after the snow slide struck them.

He appreciated Commandant of Chitral Scouts, Col Niazmud Din Shah, Chitral DC Osama Ahmed Warraich and Asif Iqbal Mohammand for providing adequate number of personnel for locating the bodies of students.

Nine students had been hit by the snow avalanche on March 19 in Susoom village as they returned to their village after appearing in matriculation examinations.
