Heatstroke

Published May 3, 2016

CASES of heatstroke have recently become quite common in Karachi, as well as in the rest of Sindh, owing to the rising temperature. The sad thing is that even though it can be treated easily, people do not take proper measures to prevent and cure it.

It is simply due to dehydration. A person suffering from a heat stroke should be given water, better if water is mixed with oral re-hydrating salt (ORS), to drink. Water and ice should be applied on their body, especially the head and the armpits.

Letting the person’s body cool down and hydrate can easily avert any major threat.
