Khyber Pakhtunkhwa captain Younis Khan has quit the ongoing Pakistan Cup in protest of ‘substandard umpiring’ in the tournament.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa manager Mukhtiar Hussain confirmed the development to DawnNews on Saturday and said Ahmed Shehzad would take over the reins from Younis.
Younis was extremely critical of the umpires after Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's loss to Islamabad and even though his side defeated Punjab by two runs on Friday, the veteran Pakistan star was once again unhappy with the match officials.
And things came to a head when the 38-year-old was fined 50 per cent of his match fee for his comments about the umpiring in the Pakistan Cup.

Younis Khan's act is highly regrettable and unbecoming of sports man .Being senior most cricketer in the tournament he should have acted sensibly and with responsibility. No matter how serious his reservations were against umpiring;he should have followed right course of action.this augars bad for cricket in general and Pakistan in particular. It was not expected from a player of younus kana status and calibre who is re model for juniors.having said that it's also very shocking surprise he behaved in this manner which is totally out of his character. It surly one forces to raise eye brow . The substandard umpiring has been regular feature in domestic cricket the incident is nothing but honest and real sum up of Pakistan cricket. This situation will continue to persist so lond as PCB is Ron by incompetent people from top to bottom.time for accountability please. Here we again! Younis Khan's ego and self rightness comes to the fore again. If he had any reservations over umpiring then he should have written in Captain's report. He has become an embarrassment and the best thing for all concerned is that he should retire from cricket altogether. Umpires like all human beings make mistakes, just like Younis has done over years in all sort of manners. What I regret is that he has set a bad example for younger players who would now follow his ill steps. What a way to go.
