Farmers to get loans worth Rs5.43bn

LAHORE, Nov 16: The Punjab government will provide Rs5.43 billion to farmers for the Rabi crop for purchase of fertilizer and pesticides.

Punjab Revenue Minister Gul Hameed Rokari said here in a press statement on Sunday.

Farmers of the barani area would get the loan up to Dec 9, while growers in the rest of the country would receive the same till Jan 14.

The maximum limit of this type of loan has been at Rs60,000.

These loans would be available to farmers through one-window operation on every Monday and Tuesday. The Zari Taraqiati Bank, he said, had also been directed to furnish a district-wise progress about the loan disbursement.
