TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 15: Police have failed to arrest two rape accused even after a month of commission of crime.

Victim Bashiran and her husband Younis Masih of Chak 394-JB Jaja told newsmen on Saturday that police had taken into custody Rana Ayub, the father of one of the accused Rana Nadeem but later released him on the direction of an influential person of the area.

They alleged that police were not arresting the accused because they had the backing of the influentials of the area.

They urged the Punjab chief minister to direct Toba Tek Singh DPO to arrest the accused.

District Nazim Chaudhry Ashfaq also belongs to Chak 394JB Jaja.

PRICE CHECK: The DDO (revenue) raided shops to check prices and ordered registration of cases against 66 shopkeepers on Saturday for overcharging and under-weighing.

Meanwhile, the city police arrested a butcher for overcharging.
