KARACHI: Two people were injured as a 'mishandled' hand grenade exploded in an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the Clifton area on Monday.

The accidental explosion occurred when a hand grenade, which was being examined as "case property" went off in ATC-II, Deputy Inspector-General (DIG) South Jamil Ahmed said.

Dr Seemin Jamali of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre said two patients were brought to the hospital with minor injuries.

Initial reports suggested the sound of the explosion caused fear and panic to spread on court premises.

Karachi police chief Additional Inspector General Mushtaq Mahar took notice of the explosion and ordered an investigation into the incident.
