HYDERABAD, Nov 15: The secretary, administrative board, Quetta Textile Mills, Kotri Site, has said respiratory diseases have spread in the mill’s Labour Colony and nearby villages as the Sindh Particles Board Mills is discharging its waste in the area.

The secretary, Makhdoom Mohammad Kausar, accompanied by residents of the colony and different villages, was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Saturday.

He said the Quetta mills administration had approached the Sindh Particles mills, Kotri Association of Trade and Industry, Sindh Environmental Protection Agency, Qasimabad, and other departments concerned but no action had been taken to dispose of the waste properly.

He said residents of Goth Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind, Goth Manghi Khan Burfat, Labour Square, Kotri Site, New Labour Colony and Quetta Textile Mills Colony were the worst sufferers.

He appealed to the government to take notice of the matter.

The others who were present at the press conference included Meeral Khan Rind, Yar Mohammad Rind, Akhtar Ali Burfat, Arshad Awan and Mazhar Manzoor.

WASA: Wasa here on Saturday extended the last date for depositing water bills for October up to Nov 22.
