Action cleared: Narine given green signal by ICC to resume career

DUBAI: West Indies off-spinner Sunil Narine was Thursday cleared to resume his career after a suspension for a suspect bowling action ruled him out of his team's World Twenty20 title-winning campaign.

The 27-year-old Trinidadian was suspended in November last year after being cited during a one-day match in Sri Lanka.

He had also been reported for a similar problem at the 2014 Champions League T20 tournament.

“Sunil Narine's action found to be legal, can now resume bowling in international cricket and domestic cricket events worldwide,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted.

Narine has played six Tests in his stop-start career, taking 21 wickets. He also has 77 wickets in 55 ODIs and 40 victims in Twenty20.

Top-ranked bowler Narine had to drop out of the original 15-man West Indies squad for the World Twenty20 in India which ended on Sunday with his team securing a second title with a four-wicket win over England.

Maybe there are two reasons for that Firstly they realised that windies can win even without him, Secondly they want him to be in the IPL.

He will get another suspicion action call when another major ICC tournament approaches. ICC destroyed Narine's career like they did of Saeed Ajmal. Very shameful.

so he got cleared right after the world cup ... thats very interesting ... they want hom for IPL matches and lifted his ban. does dave richardson has any ground left to continue for ICC now?

Congratulations! Sunil Narine got banned because the ICC pre-emptied West Indies loss. Nevertheless, the WI became undisputed champions. Congrats again! SAlams to cricket.

Jadeja should be banned. He action is definitely dodgy. I agree with everyone. It's just a money game at this stage. Ban on 2 bangladesh players before india game, now clearing sunil narine after worldcup is a clear sign. ICC is becoming like FIFA. Money money money. ICC should be banished and start WCC instead. Every country in the world should go through a qualifying round. There should be no associate member and full member.

ICC looked suspect here. Specific match winners were barred from West Indies Pakistan and Bangladesh. Timing and action raise eyebrows.
