Three gang-rape suspects held

BAHAWALPUR, Nov 14: The Civil Lines police on Friday claimed to have arrested three of the six culprits who allegedly gang-raped a constable’s daughter, said to be a special person.

Dawn learnt that the police had registered a hudood case against the six accused, including PML-Q cultural wing chief Muhammad Asif Channar. The police were conducting raids to arrest him and two others.

Meanwhile, the medical examination of the victim at the Bahawal Victoria Hospital confirmed that she was gang-raped.

The arrested culprits — rickshaw driver Nadeem, Sarfraz and Sajid — were also medically examined. The police also claimed to having recovered the rickshaw (BRD-9910) from the accused driver.

PROJECTS:The construction work on 144 uplift projects of 12 MPAs of the Bahawalpur district was in full swing and was expected to be completed within two months.
