LAHORE: The City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) management has forwarded three names shortlisted by two interview committees for the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) managing director (MD).

The post has been vacant for the last five months or so.

Official sources told Dawn on Saturday the committees (human resource and nomination committees), headed by LWMC board of director member Rafay Alam, had shortlisted three names, of the 20 candidates, and sent the names to the CDGL, which passed the list on to the chief minister for a final selection. According to Mr Alam, the shortlist candidates include: Sargodha District Coordination Officer Saqib Manan, the MD of Multan WMC Ahmad Shehryar and Planning and Development Department Director General (monitoring and evaluation) Dr Sajjad Mubeen.

“The candidates we’ve shortlisted are the best ones,” Mr Alam said, adding the final selection by the chief minister was expected in a week.He said the LWMC was registered with the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan. The LWMC board of directors independently shortlists candidates and sends these to the CDGL which is bound under the law to get it approved from the chief minister, says Mr Alam.

About the delay of six months in selecting candidates for the slot, Mr Alam said the post had been advertised twice to have maximum applications.
