KARACHI, Nov 13: Sindh Adviser for Home, Aftab Shaikh, has emphasised the need for permanent complaint centres manned by officials with magisterial powers at the city’s busy and important business centres, so as to take timely and on-the-spot action against those overcharging buyers during the month of Ramazan.

He was talking to people during a price-check visit to different areas. Those present on the occasion told the adviser that an abnormal price-hike alongwith unemployment had hit them hard, particularly during Ramazan-ul-Mubarak when fruits and vegetables were abundantly used but sold at double the price.

The advisor said he had personally checked the shops and found the price lists missing with grade-two items being sold on grade-one price. He said wherever he went he found that the checking system was nonexistent.—APP
