RAWALPINDI, Nov 12: On the directives of the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi bench, a case has been registered against eight police officials and ten civilians for allegedly raiding a house of a woman to vacate it last year, an official source said on Wednesday.

However, no arrest has been made so far.

The accused booked by the Saddar Barooni police included a sub-inspector of the motorway police and a former SHO of the city police station. According to the FIR, the accused were armed when they allegedly raided Shazia Nadeem’s house to vacate it illegally.

Ms Nadeem said in her complaint that she owned a house Gulshanabad, Adiala Road. On December 31, 2002, when she returned home she found her husband, Nadeem Dar, and eight police officials, including inspector Mirza Zaman Raza and SI Imran Qasim, along with ten civilians present in the house. She said the accused threatened her of dire consequences and asked her to vacate the house.

She said valuables were also missing from the house after the raid.

While issuing directives to the DPO, the court observed that according to law, Mr Dar was under legal obligation to wait for the verdict of the civil court on the suit which he had filed against his wife regarding the title of the house.

Meanwhile, in a similar case, police have booked a former SHO of the Pirwadhai police station and nine other people for illegally attempting to occupy a house belonging to the Pakistan Railways. They have been accused of beating women inmates of the house.

Najma Bibi lodged an FIR with the Pirwadhai police that Sher Ali along with nine to ten other people forcibly occupied her house.

She alleged that those who raided her house acted in connivance with the former SHO of Pirwadhai police station, Ali Ahmed Jan.
