ISLAMABAD, Nov 9: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Sunday criticized the Senate chairman for disallowing questions of the opposition and resolutions in the parliament.

The PPP spokesman, Senator Farhatullah Babar, in a statement, said the PPP was concerned over the way the government disallowed issues of public interest from being raised in the parliament on flimsy grounds.

He said: “Disallowing questions of national importance from being raised on the floor is undermining the parliament, rendering it irrelevant and ridiculing its members. The PPP strongly condemns this yet another assault on the national parliament.

“In recent days the Senate chairman disallowed three questions and three resolutions as inadmissible behind the facade of secrecy and sensitivity and ruled out of discussion in the parliament.”
