GHALANAI: The local people have demanded shifting of the government primary school in Dhand area of Pandiali tehsil to another place as the existing building is located between two watercourses, making it difficult for students to reach the school whenever it rains.

According to the parents, the road approaching the school has dangerous turns due to which they were reluctant to send their children to school.

Dahand is the most backward area of lower Pandiali tehsil with a low literacy rate.

Zar Wali Khan, a local resident, said the only primary school for boys was constructed in 1977 while there was neither girls primary school nor middle school for boys.

He said the lack of education facilities had forced many students to quit education.

Bismillah Jan, the schoolteacher, said there were 90 students enrolled in the school, but due to the school being located at a place not easily accessible, parents were reluctant to send their children to it.

Rustam Khan, a student, said the school was located between the two watercourses, which meant that they remained absent from school whenever rains flooded the streams.

Besides, the school is without a main gate and a security guard as it also lacks basic facilities like furniture and drinking water.
