ISLAMABAD, Nov 8: The Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) has been allocated a special grant of Rs 30 million by Prime Minister Zafarullah Khan Jamali for the now under construction Mushaf Squash Complex in Islamabad.

The PSF president Air Chief Marshal Kalim Sadaat had requested the Prime Minister for a grant of Rs 50 million for the complex that is to stage the World Junior Team event next year and the World Team Championship in 2005.

Work on the project in the premises of the Pakistan Sports Complex began in July this year and is expected to be completed by next April.

“The estimated expense on the project is Rs 50 million,” PSF secretary Wng Cdr. Sajid Waheed told Dawn on Saturday. “With Rs 30 million on the way, we will generate the remaining amount from other sources.”

The complex is named after the late president of PSF Air Chief Marshal Mushaf Ali Mir who died in a plane crash earlier this year.

Once complete, the complex will have a portable four side glass wall court plus four practice courts, convertible into three double courts.

Meanwhile, the stone-laying ceremony of the complex is to be performed by Kalim Sadaat next Thursday.
